Configure Folders

User Folders

By default these folders are stored in the user's "My Documents" folder (Windows), the Home folder (OSX) or $HOME (Unix).
However, you can choose to put these folders anywhere else. The folders will be created (if not already existing) when the Save button is clicked.

Temporary Download Folder

Enter the path to a folder SABnzbd can use to store files as they are downloaded. Once the file is complete, it will verify then extract to the Complete Folder.
You can just enter "Incomplete" to keep it relational to your home folder
or enter the full path such as "C:\Incomplete" and it will create the folder.

There should be enough space to contain the largest complete job + 10% for error correction data.
You can set a Minimum free space for temporary folder (in MB). When free space on the drive that holds the temporary folder is below this, SABnzbd is automatically pauses and an (optional) email is sent to the user. You enter the amount in bytes but you can use factors like K, M, G etc.
Note: SABnzbd will not automatically resume downloading. You have to make diskspace available AND resume SABnzbd manually.

Complete Download Folder

The complete folder stores the final result of a download job. Make sure that you have plenty of room here.
You can just enter "Downloads" to keep it relational to your home folder
or enter the full path such as "C:\Downloads" and it will create the folder.

For Unix systems (OSX, Linux etc.) you can also set the file and folder permissions here.

Watched Folder

This is a folder that is periodically checked for new NZB files. When a file is stored in this folder, SABnzbd will consider this a download job. It processes the file, puts it in the queue and removes the NZB file.

ZIP and RAR files that contain only NZB files will be processed too1.

This folder supports user-defined categories in two ways:

Sub Folders
Create a folder inside your watched folder with the same name as one of your categories. Placing a file inside that folder will add the category with the same name as the sub-folder when it is imported.
Example: If you have a category called "Random", place a file inside C:\WatchedFolder\Random and it will be picked up and assigned to the "Random" category (if it exists).

Filename Prefix
If an NZB file has a prefix, for examle "{{movies}}My favourite movie.nzb", it will be handled as the file "My favourite movie.nzb", having category "movies".

By default, SABnzbd will inspect the folder every 5 seconds. However if you find that SABnzbd keeps the disk too busy, you can specify another interval in seconds in the Watched Folder scan speed box.

Folder containing the user scripts

This specifies the folder where user scripts are stored. Advanced users can specify a "cmd"-file (for Windows) or a shell-script (for Unix) here.
For more information see: User scripts.

Folder containing the email templates

You can define your own email notification templates2.

System Folders

SABnzbd needs a number of folders to store its internal administration.
All the folders are by default in the user profile.
For Windows XP/2003 this is: c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\sabnzbd
For Windows Vista this is c:\Users\username\AppData\Local\sabnzbd
For OSX and SABnzbd 0.5.0+ this is /Users/username/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd
For OSX and SABnzbd 0.4.x this is /Users/username/.sabnzbd
For Unix this is: $HOME/.sabnzbd

Cache Folder

This folder hold temporary files and the internal administration.

Log Folder

This folder hold the error/warning/info/debug logging data of SABnzbd.
You only need to look at these files when SABnzbd malfucntions.

Backup folder for .nzb

When SABnzbd adds an nzb to the queue it creates a local of the NZB file in this folder.
If you leave this box empty, no files will be saved.
